Info

Motel Nord Haven is located in Healy, Alaska on the north side of the Alaska Range off the Parks Highway at Mile 249.5. The Parks Highway, also known as Alaska #3, connects Alaska’s two largest cities, Anchorage on the coast and Fairbanks in the interior. Healy is about 250 miles north of Anchorage and 110 miles south of Fairbanks.

Savor your drive to Denali, as you may see some spectacular views of Mt. McKinley en route.

Approaching Denali from the south, pull into the scenic viewpoint at mile 135 after you cross the Chulitna River bridge.

The 12 mile drive between Motel Nord Haven and the entrance to Denali National Park takes you across the Moody bridge, which spans the Nenana canyon 174 feet above the Nenana River. Look for dall sheep on the cliffs above the river. This section of river, which defines the Denali National Park eastern boundary, is a favorite of white water rafters.

Businesses in the Denali area offer both white water and mild water rafting, horseback riding, racing sled dog kennel visits, flightseeing by either fixed wing aircraft or helicopters, and dinner theaters. Nearby, inside Denali National Park, there is a marvelous visitor center, an intriguing science and learning center, a wonderful book store, a food court, a wilderness access center where you park your car and catch the shuttle buses, and a backcountry ranger to give you advice on cross-country hikes. There are several constructed trails in the entrance area which let you experience Denali National Park without taking a bus ride.
